Plans announced for 2008 Great Wilderness Challenge Charity Ball
Monday 3 September 2007
The fourth Great Wilderness Challenge Charity Ball will be held in Glasgow on Saturday 13 September 2008. The organisers, three of Scotland's leading firms, Harper Macleod, Tulloch Limited and Odgers Ray & Berndtson, expect up to 350 guests to attend the Ball at the city's Radisson SAS Hotel.
The event has raised more than £89,000 for Scottish charities and that total is expected to increase significantly at the 2008 Ball. Funds raised will be handed to the organising committee of the Great Wilderness Challenge (GWC) – Scotland's most enduring and formidable sporting event for charity.
The GWC has raised more than £1.6 million for Scottish charities since it began in 1986. Five charities will benefit from funds raised in 2008 – Highland Hospice, The Princess Royal Trust for Carers, Children 1st, The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice, and the Children's Hospice Association Scotland.
